Dr. Asimul Islam is a professor at Jamia Millia Islamia, a central university established by an act of Parliament in India. He is actively involved in research and has published over 290 papers in peer-reviewed journals. His H-index is 53, his i-10 index is 180, and he has received more than 10,000 citations.
Dr. Islam serves as the Member Secretary of the Animal House Facility at Jamia Millia Islamia and as the Convener of the Central Instrumentation Facility. He has successfully completed 10 major research projects, funded by various government agencies such as DST-SERB, DBT, CSIR, ICMR, and UGC. He is currently overseeing multiple research projects.
At present, six Ph.D. students are enrolled under his supervision, while another ten Ph.D. students are working under his co-supervision. He has successfully guided 20 Ph.D. and 7 M.Phil. students to their degree completions. Additionally, more than 300 students have completed their M.Sc. dissertations and summer training under his mentorship.
Dr. Islam has presented abstracts at over 50 conferences and has been an invited speaker at many prestigious institutions. With more than 20 years of extensive teaching experience, he has taught coursework for Ph.D. and M.Phil. (Interdisciplinary Sciences), Integrated M.Sc. in Bioinformatics & Biotechnology (across all 10 semesters), M.Sc. Biotechnology, M.Sc. Bioinformatics, M.Sc. Biophysics, B.Sc. Biotechnology, B.Sc. Biosciences, and B.Sc. Life Sciences with Computer Applications at Jamia Millia Islamia.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Islam has coordinated two three-week refresher courses in Basic Sciences (Interdisciplinary) and has attended two such courses at the Academy Staff College, JMI. He has organized more than 15 national and international conferences at Jamia Millia Islamia, including the National Symposium on Biophysics and the Golden Jubilee Meeting of the Indian Biophysical Society.
Dr. Islam is a member of several national and international scientific bodies, including being a life member of the Iranian Society of Biophysical Chemistry, the Indian Immunology Society, the Society of Biological Chemists, the National Magnetic Resonance Society, and the Indian Biophysical Society. He is also a member of the European Peptide Society. Recently, he was nominated as a member of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), one of the oldest and most prestigious scientific organizations in the country.
