Biography:

Dr. Gurumurthy B. R. is a distinguished academic and researcher in textile technology with a strong foundation in materials science, nanotechnology, and biocomposites. He earned his Ph.D. in Textile Technology from Visvesvaraya Technological University in 2015, with a specialization in the predictive modeling of defense textiles using Kevlar fabric and artificial neural networks. His academic pursuits extend to smart textiles, biomedical applications, and nano-enhanced functional materials, with a deep interest in structural analysis of textiles, phase change materials, and integrating smart functionalities in protective fabrics.

With more than 16 years of experience spanning teaching, research, and industry, Dr. Gurumurthy has served in various academic and leadership roles, notably as Associate Professor at VFSTR University in India and at the Federal Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institute (FTVETI) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. His work has significantly advanced the field of high-performance and defense textiles. He has mentored doctoral students, collaborated on international research initiatives, and contributed to the development of innovative materials for protective and functional applications. His academic leadership and technical expertise have made him a respected figure in textile materials research.

Dr. Gurumurthy is an active member of numerous professional bodies, including The Fiber Society (USA), the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), and the Materials Research Society of India (MRSI). He has presented his research at several international forums, including The Fiber Society conferences, showcasing his contributions to smart and high-performance textiles. With over 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, he plays a leading role in research-driven curriculum development, cross-border academic collaborations, and technical mentoring. He is also a frequent peer reviewer for reputed international journals, recognized for his scholarly rigor and subject-matter expertise in textile engineering and materials science.
