Dr. Anghel is a Professor at the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Head of Oncology Department, and Senior Radiation and Medical Oncologist.
Dr. Anghel completed her medical training at the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy and started her career in oncology as a fellow in radiation therapy, with a scholarship at “Hotel Dieu de Quebec” Canada „Alexis Vautrin”, Nancy, France, and Saint Luc in Brussels, Belgium.
Dr. Anghel’s research activity includes participation in various national and international research programs. Her recent clinical research activities cover a wide range of cancer therapies, with a particular focus on clinical trials in various types of tumors and a special interest in developing targeted drugs. Also, she implemented medical premiere in Romania - such as multimodal treatment in pancreatic cancer - surgery, external radiotherapy, brachytherapy, chemotherapy; stereotaxic radiotherapy in brain tumors, total corporeal irradiation in bone marrow transplantation preparation, external conformational irradiation of different locations, interstitial irradiation in prostate cancer with permanent implants I125 and, finally, IMRT. Her research received patent recognition in Canada, the United States of America, and Europe.
She has published more than 45 books or chapters in comprehensive books and is the author of over 400 scientific papers submitted to national and international journals. In addition, she is a member of the editorial boards of JAMA (Romanian section), Journal of Oncology Society, Journal of Radiotherapy and Oncology, Journal of BUON, and MEMO (Magazine of European Medical Oncology). She published more than 128 ISI articles.
Dr. Anghel is a member of numerous national and international societies, including the Romanian Society of Oncology, Romanian Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology, Vice-president of the Romanian Society for Neuro-Oncology, National Society for Medical Oncology in Romania, President of the Romanian Society for Radiotherapy, European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG), Balkan Union of Oncology (BUON), Romanian section Anaemia Working Group, International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and Oncologists (IASGO), Co-President of the National Federacy of Oncological Associations.
Prof. Dr. Anghel is also a Member of the Scientific Committee of CECOG (Central European Cooperative Oncology Group). Professor Anghel leads many national and international Projects, involving radiotherapy, radionuclide Targeted Therapy, chemotherapy, and screening in cancer patients
